Booked here for a birthday lunch and they did not disappoint. We all enjoyed some fantastic starters and amazing mains, followed by a cheese plate and chocolate fondant. The staff are very friendly and let my dog join in which was much appreciated. Highly recommend...and the outside area looked lovely too. We will be back!More

Had a lovely lunch time treat at The Hoop, Stock, Essex. Classical food and a classical service in a lovely village setting. The pie and mash was a real treat and the pudding was a delight.

Good food and drink. A bit cramped. Very ‘pleasant’ young ‘novice’ staff, but need training in customer engagement and etiquette. We weren’t made to feel that welcome and unfortunately the diners on the adjacent table were having a family dispute in public; which made us...feel very awkward and uncomfortable. A situation which an experienced restaurant manager should have dealt with promptly.More

Great quality food, good portions - lovely location! My wife, toddler, 2 friends, their dog and myself went here for lunch for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We didn’t feel rushed and the starters, mains and drinks arrived in good time. We sat...outside where there was plenty of seating, a lovely family friendly ambience and an accommodating area for smokers to escape to. The only things I would criticise would be that it was difficult to book - we rang, we were then told to book online, which then we had to ring because there was a dog in the party - and whoever we were on the phone to kept being interrupted / was clearly preoccupied doing something else which was a bit annoying. The parking was a bit of a nuisance, thankfully we didn’t miss our reservation as we took nearly 20 minutes trying to find somewhere! And lastly, the tip is automatically put on your bill which I always find cheeky for any establishment to do, gratuity should be optional - we’re not in America. However the service was good, We all enjoyed our food and would definitely come again, top notch lunch. 7/10 yumsMore

Visited The Hoop for Sunday lunch, roast beef. Can’t fault the quality of food but two roast potatoes, two stems of broccoli and half a carrot for the veg - COME ON!!!! And for £18, not particularly cheap. Plenty of other pubs/restaurants in and around...that area, hopefully they are better value for money 😢😢More

We are a group of five men that meet once a month for a meal at different venues around Essex . We have at one time or another been in the hospitality business. Although the service was perfect our meal was spoilt by the crab...starter or should I say salad starter . Our main course was excellent but there was no evidence of any description of crab in our starter which was priced at £10 - the three that had the crab/ salad starter were offered a pudding free of charge but considering the price of £10 for each crab /lettuce dish we all felt if it was our establishment we would have wavered the £30 . It tainted a most enjoyable visit . On comparing our plates we came to the conclusion there was less than an egg cup of crab in the three dishes .More
